Ohio County Baptist Association, Inc.
ARTICLE I - NAME
The name of this body shall be the OHIO COUNTY BAPTIST ASSOCIATION, INC.
ARTICLE II - PURPOSE
The purpose of this body shall be to encourage and assist the churches, to strengthen the churches in the ministry of the gospel, to create and maintain fellowship among the churches and to extend the cause of world missions, through cooperation with the Kentucky Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention.
ARTICLE III - MESSENGERS
This body shall be composed of the pastor of each church and messengers duly chosen by those churches. Each church of fifty members of less is entitled to three messengers, and each church is entitled to one additional messenger for each additional fifty members. No church may appoint more than ten messengers including the pastor.
ARTICLE IV - OFFICERS
The officers of this body shall be moderator, one assistant moderator, clerk, and treasurer, who are to be chosen annually and to act until their successors are chosen. Nominees to these offices will be presented to the association by The Nominating Team. The officers of the Ohio County Baptist Association will also serve as officers of the Ohio County Baptist Association Executive Board.
ARTICLE V - ANNUAL REPORT
The churches shall furnish each Annual Meeting such information as called for in the Uniform Associational Letter, and shall be filed with the clerk and Associational Office at least ten days prior to the Annual Meeting. The association shall publish the Annual Minutes and distribute
them to the churches.
ARTICLE VI - AUTHORITY
This association has no jurisdiction over the local churches.
ARTICLE VII - MEMBERSHIP
The Ohio County Baptist Association shall be composed of the churches constituting the present membership and such other churches as shall be admitted to membership by a two-third majority of the association messengers at any annual session. Application for membership shall be submitted to the Executive Board. This application shall be accompanied by the applying church's constitution, bylaws, and a statement of faith.
ARTICLE VIII - VISITORS
Visitors may be invited to be seated with us during our annual sessions and shall, by unanimous consent of the body, have the right to speak, but shall not have the right to vote on any question.
ARTICLE IX - THE EXECUTIVE BOARD
MEMBERSHIP: The Executive Board of the Ohio County Baptist Association shall be composed of the pastors and one church member elected by each cooperating church. Officers and organizational directors, who are neither pastors nor church elected board members, shall serve as ex-officio (non-voting) members.
DUTIES AND AUTHORITY: The Executive Board shall encourage and superintend all cooperative work of the association and fulfill any tasks as might be assigned to it by the association between its annual sessions.
The Executive Board shall organize itself so as to expeditiously fulfill its assigned tasks.
The Executive Board shall direct the work and hire all employees as might be authorized by the association.
The Executive Board shall report at each Annual Meeting of the association and bring recommendations concerning the work of the association.
The Executive Board shall elect an assistant moderator and clerk when either office is vacated.
ARTICLE X - TRUSTEES
The association shall elect trustees who are authorized to hold, purchase and receive title to real estate and other property by demise, gift, grant, or other conveyance; to mortgage and to borrow money; and to sell or convey the same or any part, parcel, or portion thereof, when so directed by the association.
ARTICLE XI - AMENDMENT
This Constitution may be amended, except Article VI, at any annual session by two-thirds of the messengers present and voting in favor of the amendment, provided this proposed amendment has been presented to the Executive Board at least one hundred twenty (120) days before the annual meeting of the association.
